If you're on the borderline between Tractive and Whistle, choose Tractive. We've been using Whistle for about 18 months and love it. It was our first such device. We bought it for GPS and peace of mind but became addicted to fitness tracking. We had a third whistle (two were chewed up but we kept replacing them) when it suddenly stopped working. The last GPS measurement comes from a restaurant that we visited on our hike. When we got home from camping I contacted whistle support. They insisted that the problem was with my wireless router. It doesn't matter if the problem occurs 100 miles from home... They just weren't listening. It was a very bad customer experience. They told me my best option would be to cancel. At that moment I was happy! We are very happy with Tractive. You seem to have a low physical activity threshold as our black lab hits its target even on lazy days, but the GPS accuracy and app interface are much better. No one has tried chewing on the Tractive yet, but since it's smaller it seems like it might be a little less vulnerable that way.
