I bought 4 of these rugs in different sizes for my bathroom. So I threw away my old rugs and put new ones on the bathroom floor. The gray went well with the color of the tiles in my bathroom. I then went to the bathroom to do my normal bedtime routine. As soon as I stepped onto the mats, I noticed an odd thrill of stepping onto the mats. I stepped on another rug to see if it was different and not. I can't explain exactly what the reason is, but it seems that the bulges on the carpet give a slight feeling of sharpness when barefoot. It's pretty disgusting. It's just a weird sharp feeling with every barefoot step. It's not so hard that you can't stand on carpets, but it's definitely not the soft or plush feel you'd expect. It's off-putting and all 4 mats gave me the same feeling on my feet. I didn't wash the rugs before putting them in the bathroom, but I don't think it's necessary to feel soft and plush.
