Sturdy and exactly as described. Note that you must fully extend the ladder before you can retract it to a non-fully extended latched position. (For example, I don't need the entire 10.5 feet to get into the loft, but I have to fully extend it horizontally in the hallway first, and then fold down the two rungs before placing it vertically.) Not the biggest shortcoming , but somehow impractical. It would be better if it locks after each rod extends so you don't have to pull it all the way out to lock it.
