Review on 🚲 Allen Sports Premier 2-Bike Trunk Rack S102: Efficient, Secure, Black by Fred Vazquez

Package arrived looking as if it had been previously opened and repackaged - Shelf did not fit properly in box and flaps were taped shut. I don't really care, but it might have something to do with a serious issue I had with this rack. Out of the box it looked good and worked well. When I opened the post, it snapped into place with a reassuring "click" and solidified. I installed it on my computer following the simple instructions and checked that everything is ok. Then I set up my 2 medium duty hybrid adult bikes, bolted them in place and wiggled them to make sure they were secure. Cool. Then I packed my car (including 2 small children in car seats) and drove to the end of my block and "GOOD LUCK". The trunk collapsed leaving a nice dent in the boot lid of my shiny new Accord. I immediately drove slowly back to my house and checked what had happened. Long story short, the bolts holding the post together were not tightened, and there was enough clearance between the bars that when the full weight of the bikes was on the post, the locking pin would loosen and destroy the post. I then had to remove everything which was a lot harder as the trunk tried to close under the weight of the bikes on top of the car, get everything inside (including the kids) and tighten all the bolts. I even made a modification and added a couple of washers to make the locking pins very tight in the open position. The next time I had the courage to try again, everything worked out great. This is a great stand, just make sure you check the screws before using it!
