These magnetic hooks are quite well made except they are not as strong as similar hooks I have used. I noticed this when I brought the hook close to the magnet and applied oblique pressure to it (as one would do to dislodge the magnet from its surface). There is some wiggle and play that my other products don't have and that is why I lowered my rating by one star. Also, they appear to be quite durable and suitable for many tasks. I use them for hanging things on the hood and also for hanging overalls and jackets in the garage. These are strong magnets. The strength of the magnets depends on the surface you want to attach them to. Some metals do not hold a magnet, or only poorly, if there is little iron in it. (For example, many types of stainless steel hold a magnet poorly and some do not hold a magnet at all.) Other factors such as thickness, surface texture, and color affect the metal's magnetic properties. And the position is also important. Magnets grip best when the pulling force is perpendicular to their surface, so the vertical holding force (due to gravity) is only a third of their horizontal holding force rating. Tip: This is the easiest way to detach the magnet from the surface. (or any other magnet) is to use a lever: grab these hooks close to the magnet and tilt it to one side of the pivot point of the hook cables.
