Fat is actually a bad thing!
thickness is actually a bad thing! You need a wrench that is slim and flat to fit anywhere. Unfortunately, this tool has teeth that stick out like crazy when grabbing smaller filters. This didn't work for me because the oil filter on my engine has a very thin gap. between filter and pan, so this tool didn't even fit properly. I had to use another AutoZone Simar tool, which had an increasingly thin profile as it captured the filter.
