After reading many reviews about the smell, I thought they were all crazy, but they turned out to be right! I'm not sure what they use for tanning or dyeing, but it stinks of mold and mildew. Although I know it's not mold, just sunburn chemicals, the odor is so strong when I walk past the store that I can smell it right away. I held it in my hand and thought the smell would go away, but it's just as strong as the day I received it. It's a shame, because I've always gotten great things from the mandala, but that's awesome! I will only use it for road and hiking connections, it's a good leather strap. I can't stand the smell and would never think of wearing my necklaces on it and I live close to barn owners and farmers so I'm not one to be strongly opposed to smells!
