Review on Discover Hidden Thermal Changes with BLACK+DECKER TLD100 Thermal Detector by Mike Wheeler

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good for what it is, but don't think of it as a way to save money on a thermal camera.

This is a quality looking product and I give it five stars because the price is so low, it works well as a general purpose IR thermometer and therefore has so many uses. I really want to correct someone who said they reply immediately. It's more of a 1-2 second response to a color change, so far from instantaneous. You can't scan things quickly. It pales in comparison to a thermal imaging camera. In fact, I'm including a photo of a $250 thermal imaging camera that works with an iPhone 5 to show an example of an insulation breach on a high wall in my house that I wouldn't find with Black and Decker. My advice: if you don't have an IR thermometer but want one and are happy with the limited temperature range of this thermometer, get one. But if you quickly lose time compared to a thermal imaging camera.
