Review on ๐Ÿ“€ LG Electronics WH14NS40 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter - Unmatched Speed and Versatility by Joshua Sharma

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Stopped working in less than two months.

This review refers to the LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Internal Rewriter without software, black (WH14NS40). I bought this drive on 04/09/2016 and it seemed to work fine at first. I only have a few movies on Blu-ray, the first movie I put in wasn't recognized or played. I tried two other drives and both worked fine. I'm not sure what the problem is with the first movie, it plays fine on my regular Blu-ray/DVD player, but that drive won't load the disc. I was also able to record the film successfully within the first week, so I assumed everything was fine and the playback problem was just that one disc. I bought the drive because I want to back up movies and data to Blu-ray discs. , but also because I was planning to buy a new HD camcorder to record family events, baby things, etc. I finally got a new camcorder and shot some videos over Memorial Day weekend. I had no problem downloading the video to my computer and encoding it correctly to play as a Blu-ray disc on my Blu-ray player. However, LG Burner does not burn video to disc. Whenever I try, my computer freezes and the only way to fix the problem is to turn it off and on again. I can't even burn the ISO image of the film which I successfully created and burned in the first week of owning the disc. Same result, the computer freezes and the only way to fix it is to turn it off and on again. I contacted LG support and received a response in less than 24 hours. However, in their reply, I was asked to download Leawo's DVD burning software, which has no Blu-ray burning capabilities, and Softonic's Blu-ray player program. None of them solve the problem that I can't burn Blu-ray discs. The LG drive continues to burn DVDs and CDs with no problems. Since I don't think it's a software issue (I think it's a hardware issue), I decided to try a different burner. I went to the store and bought a Pioneer external Blu-ray drive. Once plugged in and tested, I was able to burn Blu-ray discs with any software packages/programs I already had installed on my computer. I sent a new message to LG support this morning with this additional information. I will update the information as soon as I have new information to share. Unfortunately, the Revain return period has expired several weeks ago, so I will do my best to resolve this issue with LG.
