mounting holes offer a lot of flexibility. The bracket is very well made, made of metal alloy with a slightly rough texture for better grip. I tried using the side holes and although it was crazy to work as there was a lot of space between the side of the bracket and the SSD. I've often dropped a screw trying to insert it through the side hole in the side of the SSD with the tip of a screwdriver. For me the holes in the base worked much better. I know someone else commented that they don't work for them, but they have been good for my drive. The only reason I gave it a four was because I had to cut the Dell's plastic case holder. Otherwise there simply wouldn't be enough space for power and interface cables.
