Review on πŸ’™ Wireless Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Headset - Sony WHXB900N Noise Cancelling Headphones in Blue (Amazon Exclusive) by Eh Shee Lay ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I am dissatisfied with the product, there are no positive qualities.

We read rave reviews / reviews that promise music lovers Hi-Res quality sound with Sony's LDAC codec. Forget Sony's marketing tales about Bluetooth sound quality, any modern Bluetooth headphones produce sound worse than CD quality (and with any codec). As for the LDAC codec advertised by Sony, you have to be a very, very good music lover to notice its difference in sound (in maximum quality) from the aptX HD codec, and at the same time you lose all sound quality settings, i. E. listen to music according to the taste of the headphone manufacturer. If you were able to find music in the LDAC codec, then the default connection to the audio source is 330 kbps, which corresponds to the quality of the aptX codec. If you are very, very lucky and have found a sound source with max. quality for LDAC (990 kbps), the sound quality will still be lower than CD quality. At the same time, at max. quality (990 kbps), you lose the stability of the connection (which, again, will negatively affect the sound quality). And the difference in sound with different codecs is explained simply - by different sound profile settings, and here the equalizer will help you. If you consider yourself a music lover and want to listen to music in HI-FI quality, then buy good expensive headphones (and definitely not Bluetooth) and listen from a high-quality sound source (and not from a cheap smartphone). Because Sound over Bluetooth is much worse than wired in all respects. My opinion is that the Sony WH-XB900N wireless headphones do not meet modern requirements for functionality for a long time, I do not recommend buying them (and their similar ones from Sony). The price tag is very high, the functionality is outdated, we overpay for the brand, not for the quality. If all the disadvantages described above are insignificant for you and you don’t have a problem with money, then otherwise this is a good choice for headphones. After a sufficiently long time of use, I give them a price / quality rating - 2 points. At the same time, I will not say that these are bad headphones, but they are definitely not worth their money.

Pros
  • Touch control is a thing, and you can really appreciate it only by trying it. They sit comfortably on the head - you can use for several hours without experiencing much discomfort. Working time 30 hours is quite comfortable. I am not a music lover, so the choice of headphones was based on the versatility of their use: comfort to the head, long working time, sound quality, work with Windows 10, the presence of a microphone headset (for talking on Skype / Teams), ease of control, connection stability, affordable price. As a result, the choice fell on the Sony WH-XB900N, the price fell out of the desired criteria (expensive), but the name Sony clouded my mind and outweighed everything.
Cons
  • Very long charging from USB (charger not included), full charge up to 7 hours. For example, the battery of my smartphone (about 6000 mAh) charges max. for 1 hour. Bass sound settings are artificially turned up. At the same time, it cannot be said that the low frequencies are of good quality, so that they mumble while hammering the rest of the sound range. To watch movies on TV - will do. For lovers of diverse music - I do not advise. In a pause, an extraneous background is heard. Noise reduction - for show, you need to have a good imagination in order to hear his work indoors, and it is not recommended to turn it on at all on the street - only harm. Headphones are designed exclusively to work with Android devices and there are no particular problems here. Manufacturers somehow timidly and hesitantly mention the possibility of working with a PC on Windows 10 (I have Bluetooth version 4.2), but do not believe them. Very buggy work with a PC on the most common OS in the world - Windows 10 (about 60% of PCs). Headphones in the system can be set as a headphone (for example, working with a microphone via Skype) or stereo headphones. The stereo headphone mode almost never works, and the headphone mode regularly falls off and needs to be restored periodically. Those. you can forget about high-quality listening to music from a PC, and the sound quality from a microphone is below average. It is understandable - the bass is pulled up, the midrange is lowered, and there are no sound adjustments. The microphone does not work with Teams remotely, the admins said - hardware incompatibility. Each time a Bluetooth connection from a Windows 10 PC is a lottery, regularly you have to do it manually. Connection stability when working with Windows 10 - I have not seen worse. The connection is stable only within a small room. I went out into the next room - the sound chokes and disappears, either when working with a PC, or when working with a Bluetooth transmitter. At the same time, on my Bluetooth transmitter / receiver (version 5.0), a range of 100 m is declared.
