I have no way of technically comparing the factory champions that came with my 2003 Dodge Durango SLT 4.7 to these compatible spark plugs. To make my assessment even less helpful, I replaced the serpentine belt at the same time as the plugs, and since the new Dayco 5060875 serpentine belt was half an inch smaller in diameter than the old one, it's possible the old belt slipped a bit. All I can tell you is that after resetting the PCM (engine control module) on a car (bought used with 65,000 miles on it, it's 97,000 miles on it now) its V8 runs much smoother and quieter than ever. These plugs are excellent for the 4.7 liter engine. I got the impression that they are actually better than the factory champions. These are the 'cool' performance plugs from Bosch and as I see slightly higher coolant operating temperatures it's possible that these plugs are more efficient at removing heat from the combustion chambers than the champions. However, when changing the spark plugs, I noticed that the champions never tightened properly and I just don't know what could have caused that. That discovery alone made it worth replacing the spark plugs - they are so deep in the engine block that they are never checked, at least I never have. All I can say is that on an older Durango or Dakota, this relatively cheap service - belts, spark plugs, coolant - is very helpful.
