Ordered and fitted to a 2009 VW GTI without dual climate controls. After installing the fan motor and plugging the power cord into the outlet, I started the car to try it out. The fan started making incredibly loud rubbing noises and eventually stopped. I took the unit out and saw that the pin end of the power plug (on the fan motor) was plugged into the unit and not an outlet. The cable above it was fed directly into the fan and restricted movement. To fix this I took my pliers and pulled out the end cap and made sure they lined up perfectly. After correct installation, it is a little louder at "1" than the original. Other than that, it's a pretty good deal, over $100 less than the dealer and a 10-minute do-it-yourself install. hope it lasts Edit, 5 years later. The product ran quietly for about 4 years, then the bearings began to rust. This results in a noisy fan, especially in cold weather. It was still a lot cheaper than the original part so I ordered it again. The new one is quiet again.
