I love the sweatshirt material! Not too hot but keeps it warm in cold weather when we go for a walk. Washes out well. I don't have to worry so much about it getting dirty. I looked at a lot of sweaters that would look great, but I was worried about keeping them clean. I looked at thicker coats, but we travel a lot in the car, and I was afraid that he would get too hot and in it he would not be able to move around the car and not go out and out of the house much. It doesn't bother with clasps or cords as I've seen in other reviews, although I tuck in the cords when putting them on. If I had tied the ropes, he probably wouldn't have taken the hood off. Without tying, he shrugs it off, but it's a good size and covers his head well. It is easy to put on and take off and the clasps are very secure. Short enough on his stomach to let him walk. Plus, he looks adorable in it!
