The valve stem for the R134a fitting was too low in the resulting faucet so the gauge hose I have can't reach it causing the valve to block flow. You may need to remove the core to make it work, or see if another hose has a longer tip so it can open the valve. I tried it on a nearly empty can and it blew out of the seal on the first click. Had to do a second click to get a better seal but it still showed a small leak which was detected by a sensitive electronic refrigerant tester. Everything should be fine as long as the glass is used in the current job and is not expected to last long. I was hoping it would pack a little tighter. There is a ball valve in the assembly that prevents backflow into the container; I'm not sure what kind of restriction it presents when loading, but overhead faucets might be better in this regard as they didn't have that kind of restriction and didn't have a spring-loaded valve. I think it's best to use the top faucet, except in the current situation where the screw cap on one of the refrigerant bottles is dented and may not be sealing well with the top faucet.
