The resulting filter (for my Chevy 454) had no plastic gasket on the filter and the rubber gasket wasn't inserted into the filter, I had to push it in place. When I buy them from the Autozone they have plastic seals on the filter opening and of course the seal is there, no assembly required. Let's hope it's not a Chinese fake and there wasn't junk in the filter. Also a joke about the nut being "easy to untie". The nut on the filter is rounded and painted white. So if you try to use a wrench or socket at the odd angles you have to use for engine compartment oil filters, the wrench is apt to slip off, causing you to crack your knuckles. . I finally used my hands for the last time.
