After cleaning, I consistently got +-0.0005 on cases, even with a dull blade. The shaft, even with lubrication, has too much play to feel the difference when cutting. The trick is to use your finger on the bottom of the case. The friction of the tailor twists the body in the finger. Hold to cut, release your finger to see if it's done. If the case doesn't rotate on your finger with very light pressure, it will cut through. A carbide cutter costs an additional $30.
