Review on ๐ŸŒŠ Precision Navigation Tool: Davis Marine Sextant - Enhance Your Nautical Adventure by Shaun Bushey

Cheapest option for hobbyists

I have seen criticism from those formally trained in navigation, but such criticism is beyond my knowledge and use of the product. As a layman, I didn't notice any significant flaws. It worked as expected to my complete satisfaction. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING CHEAPER THAN THIS. (The $12 sextant I found at a local hardware store was DECORATIVE ONLY, despite the misleading words on the labels and in the instruction manual describing it as "working".) The filters attached to this sextant so they are not suitable for observing the sun. If you want to use it in this way, I recommend getting a real solar filter as well. A notable remark stated that the sextant's plastic body was visible in the viewing mirror, indicating that the mirror was not perfectly perpendicular to the plastic body. However, I believe this is a misunderstanding of the geometry, since a perfectly perpendicular mirror still shows the plastic body at the edges of the mirror for viewing. This does not interfere with the work and is not a real design flaw. Five stars from me. ๐Ÿ‘
