Very deep to keep the pet protected, but the depth prevents the pet from seeing when the pet is smaller or smaller. The edges are too hard and need additional padding. Need a pillow or pillow for comfort underneath. The pet will be comfortable, but safety may be compromised due to the shallower depth. According to the measurements my pet needed a small BUT I ordered a medium and it is tight. My pet is the size of a bichon, 15 pounds. A large one would be ideal in terms of comfort AFTER adding the pillow. Otherwise. great idea, product is ok. needs a little tweaking but as a buyer you can do that. The price is a bit high for the end result, but I didn't find anything I liked without spending a lot more. Much luck!
