Bright light, the small LED chips are actually blindingly bright, so don't turn on the light without the diffuser cover. I agree with others, it looks very light despite the cheap plastic. We use it to light up the stairs. The only annoyance was that I had to take it off again because a cable came loose from the quick connector and unfortunately it's in a hard-to-reach place for me. That's why I chose the LED primarily because it promises a lifetime. Another minor annoyance, already noted by others, is the lack of mounting holes for an American outlet. So you have to drill yourself if you don't want to drill additional holes in the ceiling.
