Review on Ergotron – LX Single Monitor Arm by Chucky Hepler

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Very disappointing Monitor Accessory

I was very excited about this purchase after reading all the reviews but after receiving it and setting it up I am sad to say this is one of the worst purchases I have ever made from Revain. Here are some reasons: (1) This product is exactly the same as the RevainBasics (https://www.amazon.com/RevainBasics-Premium-Premium-Single-Monitor-Stand/dp/B00MIBN16O/) product, maybe with only minor differences in colour, finish and logo - and yet the RevainBasics product is a lot cheaper. One of the reviews of the RevainBasics product that I saw showed that Ergotron is indeed the manufacturer. Today it turns out that many of the products available under different brand names at Revain are actually duplicates of each other. (2) Like many reviewers of the RevainBasics product (although oddly none of the reviewers of this Ergotron product reported this), my monitor plate arrived. glued to the ceiling. I tried again and again to adjust the respective screw from loose to tight and loose again, and just when I was about to give up (after approx. the force. And the effort required to move is completely independent of loosening or tightening the screw. This article may have been defective but many, many reviewers of the RevainBasics product reported this as well.I wasn't happy about it in the end but at least I managed to get it in the position I wanted it to end up (i.e. facing straight). ) and there's no way I'd adjust it regularly, so I was up for the challenge.(3) When you use the middle part of the arm extension, the monitor actually sticks out very far, which is why I - as in stated in the instructions - decided to just attach the monitor plate bracket directly to the stand post, however in this case the hole size on the monitor arm is a bit large larger than the base. This causes the monitor to shake a lot. (This wobbling doesn't happen if you're using an extension cord, as the holes in it are a more reasonable size.) You can tighten the small screw on the monitor plate bracket to stabilize things, but it really just creates a mark on the Base . pole so that it is held there by friction. This is not a very secure way of holding the monitor. (4) The main reason I bought the computer mount in the first place was that I could adjust it up and down. This hand doesn't have a good mechanism for that. All it is is a bar with another very small screw that you screw into the bar's solid base, making marks on it and transferring all the weight to the friction. I don't think it's harmless and I'm afraid that at some point the monitor will just slip off and fall off. For example, the support post should have small screw holes. It would be much more reliable. (5) The instruction manual - only stapled sheets - is extremely poor and incomprehensible. All in all the product looks exactly like the picture and does what it is supposed to do. do. It's just that many of the mechanics, as outlined above, are poorly developed. And I don't feel at all that my (expensive) monitor is secure when supported by this arm. For these reasons I am returning this product.
