Review on Frizzlife Quick Filtration System 0.5 Dedicated Filter by Mark Sutovsky

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Frizzlife replaced an Amway water filter that was over 20 years old - great choice!

In general, my situation is very different from a 'new' house with no existing under cabinet water filter. The house we now live in was upgraded with our built in Amway water filter which is now over 20 years old and everyone in the house is fed up with the poor filter quality. Since Amway stopped selling replacement filters I could only find aftermarket filters that weren't of the same quality, plus I suspected all the dirt on the faucet and I'm pretty sure the lines weren't that clean either. So, after enough online analysis and "consumer reviews" (which failed to impress me with their recommendations), my wife and I settled on the Frizzlife water filter. A few changes had to happen because my wife was worried about the dishwasher in the cabinet next to the sink heating the sink cabinet. This was a problem as she kept noticing 'warm' water from the existing filtered water faucet. The heat affected the Amway filter and all the pipes under the sink. I also ran a line from the sink cabinet to the basement to power the ice maker. All of this was done using 3/8" hose instead of the standard 1/4" hose. So, as I said, my situation is not a "new" living situation and has required more work than most would dare to register. So in our setup, the filter had to be placed in the basement, away from the heat of the dishwasher. That's why you see it installed in the basement where it stays cool. The blue line represents my cold water supply under the sink, and the white line (I bought an ice maker kit with white hoses - sometimes I tend to overdo it) is the filtered line. I split the filtered line coming out of the filter with a tee and then installed a separate gate for the icemaker (just in case I need to 1) adjust the pressure to the icemaker and 2) move the fridge , but I don't want to turn off filtered water entirely - again, my mad design mind is at work again). I also had to replace the 1/2" copper fitting with a 3/8" Sharkbite 1/4 turn compression fitting as the existing fitting was a double 3/8" copper fitting with a 1/2". -Copper screw connection was. I had no problems using a Frizzlife 3/8-3/8 adapter with a T-1/4" barrel adapter screwing directly onto the Sharkbite 3/8" compression threads. All pipes snapped into the fittings cleanly and with no problems. I made sure EACH hose was cut at a 90 degree angle to ensure the hose was sealed when inserted into the fitting. As for the faucet, my old faucet was disgusting! I crawled under the sink, as someone said, and did an acrobatic maneuver - not once, but several times. Removing the old faucet required my daughter's help to turn the faucet while I held the nut from below while pieces of dried plumbing fell on my head, face, nose, mouth (phew!) and my daughter squeaked how gross it looked from her vantage point over the sink. Installing the new Frizzlife faucet then took about the same amount of effort, except I tightened it from the bottom instead of the top - it was a lot more of a hassle with the adjustable wrench. In general, the work involved in installing a sink faucet is typical and the additional work in the basement is well beyond what most would expect, but again my situation was very unique and my wife had very specific requirements for this project. Wife noticed lower water pressure on the faucet, which I warned her about when I switched from a 3/8" pipe to a 1/4" pipe, but she LOVES the clarity and taste of the water. My favorite result is that by following the directions and instructions I had ZERO (0), yes you read that right, zero water leaks when I restored the water! I was a bit worried about leaks from other reviews but then realized they may not have made clean 90 degree cuts. Also, I've done enough plumbing to know the time it takes to get the cuts right, clean the surfaces properly (e.g. 1/2 inch copper before the shark bite sets in) and double check all the inserts , is extremely valuable. Keep in mind. I too have a history of making a huge mess with water leaks. I had a history of an ice machine leaking at the most inconvenient times (like Christmas morning when we were at Grammy and Pappy and the basement started filling up with water. Water until finally, regular water filter replacement was the TOP issue/requirement on my list since I've had to change my old water filter every 12 months for over 20 years and got tired of cleaning the filter in the sink and then doing the exercise of turning off the filtered water, opening the filter (making a little wet mess) and cleaning of the filter housing, then installing a new filter and running water for 5-10 minutes to clean the charcoal filter, after which I loaded everything back into the closet .Now I have everything I need in the basement to work with this filter work, and I don't have to worry about 'little' water issues as it automatically shuts off when you change the filter Bonus is there ss I could hang the plastic key on the same circuit board as the filter. For some odd reason, I'm really looking forward to replacing the Frizzlife filter! In general, all items are of excellent quality and Frizzlife goes above and beyond in any case. From the full instructions to the attention to detail to the intentional packaging of the parts, everything they sent out was in great condition and worked like a champ. I even sent in the information about the 150% guarantee and they emailed back on Sunday!
