It was a good buy. The blocks protect themselves well from overheating and overcurrent. They start generating a lot of heat when you hit the 1A mark. The cooler works well if you blow it with a small fan. It also offers the option to use or not use its 5V power supply, PWM pins, etc. It has logic protection against pulling forward and reverse logic pins simultaneously (although both are connected to the +-rail grid to zero differential). It has rear EMF protection diodes to ensure power return. The common power rail has advantages and disadvantages between the two output sides. I'll have to check the specs to see how high frequency PWM can handle it. I overclocked to 40kHz with good response. I ended up using pull-up resistors and an NPN Darlington array to run it at 5V since I ended up frying one of my old Raspberry Pis that was only supposed to run at 3.3V.
