I have a Toyota 4Runner 2002 on which I was helped to change the timing belt. It's a versatile tool with many different uses and it works very well. Pros: Comes with multiple tips (e.g. 4 sets. 2 sets with cleats to prevent slipping and 2 sets with smooth barrels. 2 sets with thick barrel stocks). and the other two are skinny.) My 4runner has a pulley that is tightened to over 200 foot-lbs and turning it on and off worked fine. You can simply replace the broken tip with a suitable high-strength screw. This is much better than the special tool recommended by the manufacturer for holding pulleys or other items that rotate. All my mechanic friends want one after seeing it in action. Cons: It could be significantly more versatile and durable with a little modification. Explanation of Cons: After 6 uses on a plain end pulley of a thick shaft barrel. At over 200 ft-lbs the pivot was a bit loose and I broke a tip. A loose hinge will cause the extension to slip out of the hole; Movement was so severe that I had to enlist the help of a friend with a 5ft pull rod applying body weight to the side of the pulley holder to hold the pins in the pulley. The pulley in particular couldn't support thicker pins, so I had to use smooth cylindrical pins. Any slipping of the lever puts undue stress on the tips held on the pulley and slipping will occur with smooth running tips. Pushing the reel seat by hand with a rod (a long steel tube that rests on the ground and the reel seat) against the reel was enough to turn the reel on and off several times, but after the 6 holder lever pulley bent a little, the Strain the tip and cut off the end. The problem is that the arm can flex at 150 foot pounds or more. Additional lateral reinforcement is required to bear against the V-shaped section of the pulley retainer to prevent accidental torque being applied to the ends of the pins located within the pulley. I ended up breaking a barrel tip (at about 230 ft lbs) but found a replacement bolt that worked great to finish the job. the length of the pulley holder shaft into which the spikes will screw. This provides more flexibility in applications where access to pulleys etc is very limited. I would also suggest thickening the steel an additional 4mm and using a heavier pivot. I believe that would make it a 5 star product.
