These LCD panels often fail and are not covered under warranty. Many have replaced the panel only to have it fail again after 1 year so this is clearly a design flaw. I hope this version of the panel endures. By the way: With an electronic background, I took a close look at the old circuit board. It's sealed tight with some kind of waterproof coating. The LED hasn't failed, it must be a driver chip or traces on the board. Without circuitry and because of the cover it would be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause.
