Review on ๐Ÿฅ’ HUDEF Pickleball Paddle: Lightweight Composite Fiber Wide Face Paddle with Honeycomb Core and Comfort Grip by Ron Chang

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No worse than paddles that cost twice as much

The Hudef V1.2 paddle we got from Revain is a really good paddle and fantastic value for money. The first thing that struck me was its weight. It is advertised at 7-8 oz and both of ours are on the lower end of the range. So you get light weight, easy manoeuvrability, great handling and less weight for more performance. The sweet spot is large and comfortable, located near the center of the racquet, making it easy to hit and control the ball. The scapula, despite its light weight, does not bend. The polypropylene core produces a great click, similar to the Selkirk Neos we tested. Neos uses the same core as the more expensive Selkirks. But here the comparison ends. The Hudef's face is made from a beautiful graphite composite with a light texture. It far exceeds the capabilities of the Neos but falls short of the heights of the Tempest Wave and I wasn't expecting that given it's selling for less than half the price. The grip is fantastic. My wife and I love this. The girth fits her small hand and the longer length is perfect for my large hand where I hold the paddle closer to the bottom. I briefly tried the rotation options on cultures and shoots. There is no lazy way to turn with this paddle. I have to use a good torque technique with the whole body and when I do that the rotation is there. Not close to the Epic Amped but in return I have much better feel, control and speed than the Amped as I can pot balls. The construction seems to be very good. Historically, cheap gear suffers in terms of durability. The time will show. The package comes with a one-year warranty tag but no address or phone number. I expect Revain to help with warranty issues as it has in the past. These were intended to be our spare paddles/friends paddles while we were looking for the main paddles. They are more than worthy in that regard and I expect the Hudef will be our go-to paddles as we both like them as much as any other professional paddles we've tested, with the Tempest Wave coming the closest. I will update this post when I find new relevant information.
