I bought this for an ice cream scoop. I didn't like the crescent shape my fridge ice maker makes for drinks. They tend to land on the rim of the glass, curved side up, blocking the "spill-proof" drink. I bought a pair of silicone ice cube molds that make small rounded cubes. I use a separate bin to store these cubes, and when my bin is so full that the scoop won't fit in the bin, I can attach the scoop to the side of my fridge (or something metal nearby) with the magnet in his grip. This scoop is also perfect for sugar, flour, dog food etc.
