1) This item has strong magnetic properties like the cheaper carbon steel not the stainless steel advertised.2) I have my name engraved on the item and the thin silver coating peeled away, revealing the copper layer. Carbon steel is usually plated with a thin layer of copper so it can be plated with something like chromium. From the outside it looks chromed. It is very unusual to coat stainless steel with a layer of silver. 3) This item will likely perform well until it begins to rust on the edges where the plating will wear first. I bought it on purpose because he claimed it was stainless steel. I honestly don't like false advertising!
