Very disappointed. I bought this to replace a cheap modified adapter that broke. Although this valve is very well constructed, it does not function properly. I've had to vacillate over how tightly it screws into the can and how hard you turn the valve knob. Loosen this pull until you find the sweet spot where the refrigerant is flowing, loosen it a bit, and then connect the hose. I'm not sure, maybe the plunger is too long or something, but it doesn't work as expected. I will buy another adapter for $3 that has served me for years and has worked flawlessly. I gave it two stars because I could get it to work, but the average Joe probably wouldn't
