I had a beautiful pair of 14 karat monogrammed earrings that had sentimental value and after 20 years I was very upset to lose one. This was a pretty piece of jewelry in its own right so I decided to make a necklace out of it using a jump ring and a pretty chain. I didn't want an unnecessary ring that might deform or change color; this fits the bill. I will say that it wasn't the easiest thing to work with, even with jewelry tools, but when it's done it's perfect and the only way out, even if it costs a little more (still cheap for the result!). That jump lock detail seems like such a small thing, but like so many other things, what makes something fabulous and not good or normal often lies in the 'little' details.
