A good choice for the photographer who is not limited to one versatile 18-55 kit lens. Yes, it slightly lathers around the edges, but only on the open. Yes, this is a fix, but, compared to 18-55, the angle is noticeably wider, it will give a head start by one stop in aperture ratio, and who needs 55 mm with an aperture as much as 5.6? Better buy a separate portrait. The stabilizer on such focal lengths is also useless. But it is compact, fast and can turn into a very budget ultra-wide or fisheye thanks to Sony nozzles.
