Better than expected! Excellent quality!

Great product! I choose sumo springs over airbags and I'm glad I did! Easy installation took less than 10 minutes. I've tried riding over bumps and have seen significant improvements! It's affordable and durable.

Pros
  • Slightly larger
Cons
  • Style 90

Easy to fit but the price is too high for what you get

Not what I expected for the price seems to work but it's literally just a longer factory style fender. It doesn't keep your truck straight, it just hits the bump stop faster. Running down mountain roads with loads and things bouncing around wasn't what I would call a good feeling at all. Time to get the airbags like I should have.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not sure

Good product and fair price

I think for the money it's not a problem. Ride quality is good under load, with more assist under load. Instead of spending $1,000 on airbags, I decided to try them. I have a GMC 2500 Duramax and am towing a trailer that weighs about 7,000 pounds. I had a few hops on the freeway when I got into dips from the trailer and cargo in the truck bed that almost disappeared.

Use 2x4 and jack best in leaf springs

As others have said it's overpriced for what it is. Installation is easy, but note that you cannot install it manually. You will need to use a jack and a 2x4 to get the sumo spring piece into the frame. This is a quality product and it works well. I like them more than airbags. Towing my 13km trailer fully unloaded improves control and handling. No more Buicks of swimmer-hauling heavyweights. I would buy more but the price bites.

  • good thing

  • cable is shorter than other picks

Does the job I need

Put them on a one ton 2015 Silverado, have been driving them for over a year now. If you have a 3200 lb RV, occasionally tow a 4500 lb boat at the same time - about 600 lbs of extra weight per tongue. They offer the perfect amount of extra support without making the ride worse than it already is. I could have used a little more with both a motorhome and a boat, but I definitely managed to do it. I've tried the blue two-piece sumo before and it was completely unbearable with no load. It's just…

A simple alternative to airbags and add-sheets.

For my specific application, a 2015 Silverado 2500hd with a 35-foot, five-wheel cargo trailer. They installed in about 11 minutes, including lifting each side. Nothing special, jacked up the front leaf spring mount, pulled out the old ones with a thin long flathead screwdriver, added some soapy water to the side of the superstructure, set them in place and lowered the jack. They were fully crushed upon landing. It only increased the ride height by about an inch, but overall it doesn't roll or…

Loose passenger side seat

Easy to fit but one side didn't stay in the boot glass. I mounted a 5 wheel camper in the bed of a truck trying to mount it. It still hasn't stayed in the receiver glass. Tried to score for more grip and smash through the cleats hoping he would stay in the cup. NO, it didn't work. Lastly, I had to thread some bolts with washers into the top of the tabs in the truck's cup to secure the sumo spring in place. Another question is WHY is there a 1 to 2 inch gap between the bottom of the sumo spring…

  • Finally bought

Better Than Air Bags

Installed Sumo Springs (SSR-207-47 Airless Air Bags) on a 2017 Silverado 2500HD (Z71 with Rancho shocks) this morning. Yes, Revain points out that this is the wrong part, but it is. Probably one of the easiest installs I've ever done; Up to 30 minutes cleaning! The truck is parked with a 2,100 pound retractable camper in the back and currently sits flush front and rear "in front” of the Sumo Springs setup. Take this into account for the numbers below. The RV's weight lowered the body 3 inches…

Better for trucks with factory rakes

If your truck is level like mine, these sumo springs won't provide enough support to keep the truck level under the weight. For the weight I'm towing or hauling, the truck squats at least 1/2-3/4 inches, which isn't considered a bad thing by many, but I like to go straight. I know for a fact that the truck will squat more without them, so they definitely offer some support. The conclusion I would draw from these sumos is that they are designed to give much better results on factory rake trucks.
