Works well for attaching stretch shading fabric

I have tried butterfly clips to attach shading fabric but found them very difficult to close so I bought this cord and pin thinking I could use the shading fabric will fold . over the stretch and sew it on. The needle that came with the cord was too big for my purpose; It was very difficult to pull the cord through the double layer. I found a pack of "assorted yarn needles" at Revain that was much smaller and worked great. The one I used was about 2.5 inches long with a bent end to guide it. The resulting seam seems secure and good looking - much more even than other methods. It took a lot of time, but the sewing is easy. A few tips: Before you begin, attach the shade fabric to the guy line with clips or something similar every 12 inches or so. I was best at sewing from the bottom so I could see the woven lines on the shade fabric against the sky and line them up for a straight seam. Pass the needle between the intertwined lines; When you press them, it is very difficult to stretch the needle. I made stitches about 1/2 inch long. I tied the ends together and then burned the tail to seal it and prevent it from unraveling.
