Review on ☕️ Breville BCG820BKSXL Smart Grinder Pro: Premium Coffee Bean Grinder in Black Sesame Finish by Sameer Harder

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fingers crossed like many others

UPDATE AFTER 4 MONTHS OF USE: Love it! Just before I wrapped it up and sent Revain back, I decided to give him one last chance. Many customers here have said that the grounds jug/container can partially block the grounds chute in many positions. For example, if you slide the can all the way back, which seems natural, the chute will be partially blocked. This parachute is extremely sensitive to clogging. So people suggested another container, remove the lid, try to position it better, etc. I just removed the lid. It worked wonders! It's been 4 months and I haven't tied him up once. As you will see in my review below I thought I had already tried it. It is clear that this was not the case. I still think this product could benefit from improvements. It seems a bit easy to tie. The glass moves out of the chute too easily, causing it to bind. But if you remove the lid from the jar, you shouldn't have any problems. ORIGINAL 1 STAR RATING: Mine makes loud clicking noises like many others and refuses to grind coffee. I'm on my fourth morning with it and have already spent a couple of hours taking it apart and cleaning it repeatedly to get it working again. Sometimes it takes 30 seconds, sometimes just 3 seconds to get stuck. If it sticks, it needs to be cleaned thoroughly. I've tried a million different ways to get it to work. Coarse grind settings, different capacities that would eliminate back pressure, etc. I even tried buying brand new beans just in case mine a few weeks old were the culprit (although they're not oily, not wet, and no tiny stones included). I gave this thing every chance I could think of, but no luck. I don't think it's fair to call this a bad design. There are so many visible things about this grinder that are really well designed, from the bottom of the hopper that closes when you lift it to clean, to the magnetic grist catcher on the bottom. You've put a lot of thought into the many details that make tidying up a breeze. But there are clearly a lot of defective devices. Or maybe all the major internal parts were made by a different engineer. I called Breville to see if they knew anything I could try before sending it back. The automated phone system offered to call me back instead of putting me on hold, she said I would not lose my spot in line. "Cool!" I thought, "I love her." 3 hours later my phone rang and immediately hung up. I google a phone number and the first result is Breville's Better Business Burea profile. Your Rating: DI would never normally rate anything 1 star, especially something with such an impressive appearance. But it's an expensive grinder that doesn't grind coffee and from what I've seen a replacement is unlikely to help.
