Review on Topeak Survival Tool Wedge Fixer by Loren Jacobson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

GREAT PACKAGE! But unfortunately it depends on how many handlebars you have under the saddle for the job.

The Topeak II Survival Tool Wedge Set is ideal for those who travel long distances and need an emergency kit. 17-piece tool set includes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6mm Allen keys, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, 8 and 10mm open-end wrenches, 14g, 15g Mavic M7 and Shimano spoke wrenches, universal chain tool with chain hook, 2 bar lever. and a set of adhesive-free patches - A yellow rain cover that protects the bag and its contents - QuickClick with seatpost strap There really isn't anything wrong with the packaging and its contents as it has everything you want in a survival backpack and one to keep. behind your seat. BUT. There is something I really need to stress to people before I buy this kit. There is one caveat. On both of my road bikes, my saddle is set up so that most of the seatposts (which the wedge pack should connect to) are in the front, not the rear. This is problematic as some people may need to slide the saddle back to open the bar and install the Wedge Pack. This is problematic for me insofar as the saddle is designed for comfort for me. My saddles are perfectly matched to my ride and I will not mess with them. If I were to throw the saddle back a few inches I would have to sacrifice that comfort and really stretch my arms out for a long portion of my ride, and sacrificing comfort is unacceptable. Backpack, you should be fine. But the first thing I want to do is find out if you have bars under the saddle (where they are thinnest), if you have a lot of them in the back you're fine. If most of it is up front, then you're in my position and that can be problematic. Even if you use taillights. While you'll probably get by with a small Lezyne Micro taillight, you'll be fine. But for Cycliq Fly 6 rear light/camera users, depending on your bike, you may not be able to use your Fly 6 as the backpack may be in the way. But I just want to say that out of the affordable bike survival kits that cost less than $50, this is one of the best options out there. Before you buy, however, you need to make sure you have an extra locking bar to hook up to. If you don't have and want saddle adjustments that fit you, I recommend a repair kit that fits under the top of the frame, or an under-saddle version that uses straps to wrap the bag and saddle bar rather than using adapters. . Otherwise there is an alternative. Maybe you can tinker a bit and make something with your own hands. But in general it is recommended to use the Topeak II Survival Tool Wedge Pack! The instruments are great and well made.
