The aluminum in these brackets is VERY soft. It would also be better if the screws were longer. The problem I had was cleaning the screw holes. I would select the correct inserts for my bar, screw in one screw a few turns, and then try to screw in the second. Then the first screw is pulled out and the threads stripped (you also have to be very careful with the transverse threads of the second screw). I've tried using thinner inserts but they weren't tight enough on the handlebars to prevent twisting. I ended up using a large vise to squeeze the bracket together, which allowed me to install both screws.
