Terrible product burned out after use to download 20GB of data

I connected my Mac Book Pro, worked fine, connected with no problems, easy to see the drive. However, when I copied about 20GB of data from an SD card connected through this device to my laptop, after almost 80% transfer, I saw the stick's physical body heat up and eventually start to melt. See photos. I won't buy it again it's scary.
