Review on πŸ”Œ Type C Wireless Charging Receiver - Nillkin Magic Tag USB C Qi Wireless Charger Receiver Chip for Google Pixel/2/3a/Nexus 6P and More USB-C Phones by Tim Arnold

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It works but a few things keep it from 5 stars.

I ordered this for my BlackBerry KEYone because I'm used to wireless charging from my previous phone, the BlackBerry Classic. I can confirm it works and the short version definitely fits this phone, it ONLY barely gets to the logo, didn't want it to cover it. With the Itian Qi wireless charging stand, it's similar to the Tylt but costs about 1/3 of that. I had to stack 2 tiers of these felt pads I bought at a hardware store so the phone sits high enough on the Itian charger to charge reliably as the receiver is too low without it. In any case, of course one wonders why only 3 stars, well some people have complained that it's thicker than they thought and they are right, but that's not really the reason. The thinness wouldn't be so bad if properly bonded to the back of the phone. The problem is that it literally comes with a small piece of double sided tape at the very top center of the pad and that's it. It's like a strip, about 1/4 inch wide and about an inch long. So now all the edges are sticking out a bit from the phone and when I pick up the phone I have to be very careful not to move the receiver panel. It's not really that hard to fix, I'll take some double sided tape and stick it over the edges, that should make it a bit more secure. In addition, the plug is not fully inserted, it seems that it is too long. A full millimeter of a true USB-C connector sticks out of my phone like it's not fully inserted, but it's inserted as far as it will go. So the entire connector assembly protrudes about 3mm from the bottom of my phone and gets in the way of my pinky when I'm trying to support my phone while using it with one hand. use him. I'm sure other options will likely have the same downsides, if not more. So, not to mention not buying it, I think the wireless charging option is still very useful and convenient. I'll keep using it, it's pretty good for what it is. In case anyone is wondering, here are a few more things to consider: 1. Yes, this will block your USB port.2. The connector protrudes a little, so it can be a bit difficult to place it upright on the wireless charger. (I'll put two rubber bumper stickers on the charging base so it sits on it instead.) 3. This doesn't seem to interfere with NFC as I can still use NFC through the receiver.4. I wish it didn't apply all over the back, if it was just black or had a subtle pattern that would be much better.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • No color required
