I've been working on making different tinctures and other recipes that involve heating very-high proof alcohol. For safety, you should never work with alcohol and an open flame, so that meant that the combination of my enclosed kitchen and gas stove were absolutely not going to work.If you don't need precise temperature accuracy (and I stress that), this is perfect. I use it on my deck or patio along with a temperature sensor and outlet that I monitor and control with a Raspberry Pi. That way, when things get too hot for too long, I can cut the power, and then switch it back on when the temperature falls out of range.Admittedly, this is kind of complex, and probably not what most people are going to do with this. In that case, as a "make my Spaghetti-O's hot" or "boil something" hotplate, this is also really nice. It heats up quickly, and is easy to clean.
