4 mil - perfect thickness - very strong. I print DYMO labels (#30347, available here at Revain) and then attach 1-1/2 inch wide by 1 inch tall labels to these bags. Bags are great - I love them! Although the top ends of the zip are flush cut, they unzip quite easily - simply pinch them together with your thumb and forefinger, then spread them apart and the zip opens. If your toe and toe are slippery, just slightly moisten the skin and your grip will improve, allowing you to open them easily. In addition, the zipper fits well and closes very easily. Good bags!
