This product works. A brand new 2019 MB Pro (with Touch Bar) connected to a legacy 30" cinema that uses Mini DisplayPort. This works because the product claims it works with Mini DisplayPort and NOT the newer (now old) Thunderbolt connection. My monitor requires a Mini DisplayPort + USB connection to work. I simply plugged this new adapter into one of the USB-C ports on my new laptop and connected the monitor's USB port to the USB-to-USB-C adapter that goes in one of the other USB-C ports C on my new laptop Mini DisplayPort has an icon with a rectangle and a line on each side (working), Thunderbolt has a lightning bolt icon (not working).
