Finally I charged the dead and empty car battery. Initially a dead battery will not charge and I read the instructions that it requires at least 2 volts to charge. So I figured I was unlucky because the battery was completely dead to run it. I left my machine in storage and didn't start it for a while and the battery was slowly draining completely. In desperation, and after some reading of the instructions, I realized that since it has a polarity sensor to determine the correct positive and negative terminals, I figured there was at least 2 volts in the battery for the polarity sensor to charge, polarity to order to prevent the battery from short-circuiting when charged with the opposite polarity when dead with no minimum voltage to ensure that it has the correct polarity. I then decided to get the charger to start charging the dead battery by applying a minimum voltage to the dead battery by connecting the jumper cable to another car's running battery, but not trying to start it yet (because the other car's battery doesn't). have enough power) to start a fully discharged battery). So after I first connect the connection cable from the dead battery to a good battery of another car with the correct pole. Then I connect the charging cable to the dead battery. The charger has now detected the at least 2 volts (taken from another good battery) with the correct polarity and the green LED will now start flashing. So this is a good sign that the charger is starting to charge. Then I unplug the jumper cable and let the charger continue to charge without the jumper cable connected. So it helped to start charging a completely dead/discharged battery by borrowing at least 2 volts from another battery to trick and override the polarity sensor. Turn on charging the discharged battery from the discharged state. Eventually it fully charged my dead battery after charging it for about 24 hours as it only charges at a 1 amp rate. So I would expect it to take that long to fully charge a dead battery. After that I can start my car on my own and it works fine after that. Now I keep charging the car battery with the charger as maintenance instead of letting the battery run down completely before charging a car that hasn't driven in a while. And I have to run the car from time to time to circulate the fluid and motor instead of leaving it there for a month. So a charger can charge a dead battery if you know how to trick it into making it work.
