Review on πŸ’‘ GE Halogen Light Bulbs: T3, 100W, 1500lm, R7S Base - Clear, 1-Pack Torchiere Bulbs by Sandra Landgrebe

Revainrating 3 out of 5

a well-functioning lamp

I have just installed one of these lamps and would like to send information. First, the Revain publication correctly states that this lamp is made in China. However, the manufacturer information at the bottom of the page states that the lamp was made in Hungary. This is no longer the case, although they used to be made in Hungary, as the expired bulb I took from my desk lamp, also a GE T-3 100W, was made in Hungary. I'm having trouble fitting a lightbulb into my double spring table lamp holder. I cleaned the contacts and checked the springs before attempting to install the bulb (wearing rubber gloves). But the first time the working lightbulb did not light up, I changed the position of the lightbulb in the holders of the contact spring, but it still did not light up. I took it to my favorite home improvement store ready to buy a new lightbulb or announce that my lightbulb was dead. The hardware store staff were great, they tested my lightbulb which turned out to be working and reinstalled the lightbulb twice. Finally it worked. What struck me when comparing the Chinese and Hungarian workmanship is that the ends, which are ceramic, looked very rough and crumbly on a Chinese product, although it worked in the end. The burned out old Hungarian-made lightbulb also had ceramic ends, but their edges were well finished. Maybe it doesn't matter. But 2 attempts at home, 2 attempts at a hardware store with 2 workers familiar with this type of bulb, that's what it took to get this bulb to glow.

Pros
  • HIGH-QUALITY LAMPS: T3 lamps are rated for 1.4 years of use at 3 hours of daily use. These GE halogen bulbs won't disappoint.
Cons
  • No instructions
