VCR working

This used VCR is not in good condition, it doesn't even work. I've tried several VHS tapes that I know work including the one this tape was sent from and although it says play, stop and eject no movie or audio is shown. To move the RCA cables around the back of the Smart TV, they are all in different places and not in a straight line as indicated by the color on the back of the TV. After moving them several times, I was finally able to view the video and sound.
