Review on Tektro HD E500 Auriga Caliper Control by Antonio Fox

Not worth the money

I currently run a 5000 watt geared motor on my Mongoose bike with fat tires - with that much power I really need electric brake switches. I installed the brakes and replaced some of the existing Tektro hydraulics with additional bike sensors with these new Tektros with fully integrated sensors. The problem is that they close all the time, so the brake lever has to be moved after every stop. When they close, they cut power to the motor as if the levers were still depressed. It's very nerve wracking trying to pull onto a busy city street and thinking you have full electric assist, only to find there is no assist because the brake levers are shorted out. Overall, these Tektros are less reliable than the extra ebike sensors I've had before. As for actual braking, like all Tektros, they do an excellent job.
