My old screens started to rust and the springs broke. They look better and have silicone protective edges that prevent scratches on the ventilation openings. A tip: put the silicone bands in the sun for a while. They come coiled and rolled up for shipping and are difficult to install straight out of the box. After sunbathing, place them on the screens and let them cool before installation. I had to trim about 1/8 inch off the ends to fit flush with the vent's surface. VERY IMPORTANT: ALLOW TO COOL BEFORE CUTTING THE EXCESS!
