Does the trick with some nice touches

Like - Comes with 2 strips of silicone piping to prevent paint scratches and rattling. The springs are irregularly shaped to hook onto the blinds, they are designed to hook onto a thinner crossbar or larger trellis. Requires a little McGuyvering and using wire instead of springs on a smaller cage.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Not the easiest install, but works well.

They require hand-eye coordination to install. The springs are really tricky to work with and I'm sure I'll attach another wire just to be sure. The included white spacer was too long so I had to cut it off on each piece to make it. fit. never mind They do their job once and I highly recommend something like this to keep critters away from your stuff.

Magnetic Base - Van Parts & Accessories

The mesh has the appearance of stainless steel, the base to which the mesh is attached is magnetic. It might be lower quality stainless steel, I'm not sure. The supplied silicone must be used. I haven't installed it yet, just run a neodymium magnet over it to see if it's rust free or not. Update: Installed and appears to be working as intended. The silicone is a bit long so you need to shorten it a bit. I've talked about it because if it shortens, it will be too short. So I just left the…

Repels paper wasps

Repels large insects. I attach with soft aluminum or copper wire and pliers. Small spring things are too difficult to attach. Place the wire where you want it, so the ends are sticking straight out, and then through the screen as you feed it to the hole. Twist and bend the twisted wire as it passes through the screen so it doesn't snag on clothing as you walk past it. Much easier and more reliable than Lille spring clamps which sometimes come loose.

Great replacement for old screens.

My old screens started to rust and the springs broke. They look better and have silicone protective edges that prevent scratches on the ventilation openings. A tip: put the silicone bands in the sun for a while. They come coiled and rolled up for shipping and are difficult to install straight out of the box. After sunbathing, place them on the screens and let them cool before installation. I had to trim about 1/8 inch off the ends to fit flush with the vent's surface. VERY IMPORTANT: ALLOW TO…

Feathers are difficult. Follow the instructions carefully!

Easy to install. I made mine in minutes in the rain. BUT READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS regarding the springs. Make sure the right end of the spring is facing the van. Works much better! A suggestion: They come with silicone edge strips to protect the finish of your RV. When attaching them to the screens before installing the screens on your RV I found that using some sort of adhesive to hold these edge strips in place helped a lot. Without them, the strips are constantly trying to fall off…

Springs loose

The kit looks well made and I like the silicone rubber grommets that keep the screens from moving. However, the supplied springs are not sufficiently tensioned and have loosened several times. To fix this I simply used stainless steel wire and attached each screen with wire that I wrapped around the vent grille and then through the mesh on top of the screen. Now they are safe for life. And one more thing, and this is not the seller's fault. The large square water heater was about 1/2 inch…
