Review on Minder Metallic Personal Security Flashlight by Ken Vargas

Revainrating 2 out of 5

NOT A VERY WELL BUILT PERSONAL ALARM.

I just got it receive. At first glance it looks VERY high quality, not cheap goods. The built-in light beam is quite powerful, well beyond what I need to see where to put the key in total darkness. I tried the alarm clock, very powerful sound. Most importantly, unlike most other personal alarms, on this one the alarm activation pin with the elegant strap attached does not hold the key fob, allowing you to pull the pin, activate the alarm and release the lanyard pin in an emergency. removed, and your keys remain firmly attached to the device's case and stay with you. In other words, you won't lose your keys if you run away after activating the alarm in an emergency. So very thoughtful. As I've just received it I'll update later if needed :-) EDIT 29th August 2015: Unfortunately after 2 months of using it as a keychain the red paint covering it came off on its own leaving a small piece of the chain Ring came off, so I was left with part of the alarm clock. I just put the stripped portion of the handle in my pocket to use as a flashlight (the light stays on as long as you hold down the little button). Once I removed the pin that was triggering the alarm and the alarm sounded fine. So I'm just deducting 3 stars out of 5 and giving it 2 stars because it doesn't work as a keychain and overall appearance, but still works as a standalone flashlight and personal alarm clock after a few months of use. . This item needs tweaking by manufacturers to improve shelf life and general consistency issues :-(

Pros
  • - Small size with a designer look attractive to younger workers - (40mm x 60mm x 12mm) - Pull pin activation - Siren 140 decibels - Flashlight added - Alkaline batteries included - Separate key ring
Cons
  • Older model
