This product is a great idea. Unfortunately cheaply made

This product is a great idea. Unfortunately cheaply made. My first problem, like many others, was getting the spreader insert in the tailgate to start. The opening in the trunk is much larger than the insert, so nothing gets stuck when rotating the extender. I've tried every suggestion in another review with no luck. Finally, I just started inserting my vise until it widened a bit. This finally gave him enough grip to install it. It's also not entirely clear how tight it's supposed to be. The second problem was the upper tailgate cable bolt. With the original washer, it was too thick and hit the tailgate when it was closed. Then I tried it with the supplied thinner washer. Besides, he was too fat. I tried without the washer and then everything worked fine, but not tightened over the hole in the case. I ended up having to cut my own washer and insert it into a hole in the body to create a flat surface so I could tighten the nut. My last problem was with the cable. They give you a thick plastic clip that runs over the cable to prevent it from being pinched between the body and the shock absorber when the tailgate is opened. Unfortunately, the plastic clip is too thin and constantly gets stuck with the cable between the damper and the body. I fixed this by putting a piece of rubber tubing over a plastic clip to make it thicker. Anyway it works great now. The shock absorber is a huge improvement over the tailgate drop. But I wouldn't call it a bolt-on product. Installation takes 5 minutes but expect it to take much longer. In total I spent about 2 hours getting everything right and working.
