Failure of a wing nut renders the entire assembly unusable. After opening the bag and going through dozens or twenty mounting options, I found the one that worked best and attempted to install it. I twisted and twisted and twisted one of the wing nuts on the rear view mirror bracket. . Nothing was tightened and the wing nut kept flying off the carriage bolt. After removing the wing nut and carefully inspecting, the screw threads have not caught. Neither screw nor nut are damaged, only the wing nut is one size larger. Attempting to fit a wing nut into another supplied bolt gave the same results. Using a different wing nut on the failed bolt shows that it is being tightened and the bolt is not the problem. Additional wing nuts are not supplied, rendering the entire assembly useless.
